Two Gifts Granted by a Juice Find! (Plus Health Benefits List)


Traveling brings great joy but can also can be slightly daunting when it comes to finding food. I put forth my best effort to choose food that are closest to the original source of nature. For breakfast, I aim for something filling, nutritious and light so that I won’t feel drowsy later. This usually consists of a green smoothie or fresh pressed juice.

Well, in this case, I was traveling in a different city than what I am used to. I wanted to find breakfast but needed to find something on my path of a two-mile walk. While walking, I just so happened to pass a small cafe that listed coffee, breakfast, and juice. The last part intrigued me the most so I went in to visit. Lo and behold, their juice meant fresh veggies and fruits put through a juicer and made right on the spot. I stumbled upon an unexpected gem!! Thank you, Universe! (This is where I do my mini dance of excitement).

There were several options that sounded interesting – I’ve been on the adventurous side lately – but I chose a juice with the name “Pura Vida.” The name pulled me first as it means, “Pure Life,” and secondly, the ingredients. My morning greatness in a cup consisted of apples, beets, carrot, lemon, ginger, and pineapple. Although beets wouldn’t be my first choice, I know and understand the health benefits and figured it would balance itself out with the other ingredients. After being handed my juice and excitedly trying it, it turned out to be quite great! The beets give it an ‘earthy’ taste but nothing too harsh (I’ve tried more interesting tasting ‘earthy’ things but that’s another story).

In addition to my glorious juice, I came across this free magazine in the cafe. Nice reading as I awaiting the day’s activities to start! Two great, expected gifts from the day.

To give more insight into why I was excited about the juice, I would like to share the benefits of each ingredient with you. Hopefully, this will help on your own juice find or meal consumption.

CARROT provides copper, potassium, biotin, vitamin K, fiber, and manganese. Carrot is also anti-bacterial, anti-viral, improves kidney and liver function, and is great for the skin and digestion.

PINEAPPLE provides vitamin C, vitamin A, and manganese. Pineapples are anti-inflammatory, promotes natural detox, prevents colds and coughs, promotes healthy gums, improves digestion, and helps to soothe nausea.
