“The way to right wrongs is to turn the light of truth upon them.” -Ida B. Wells-Barnett
The is so much wisdom that can be found in the words and actions of foremothers. On this year’s International Women’s Day, it is imperative to take some time to channel the energy and spirit those who have come before us and who have made a direct impact on the world to make it better.
Mother Wells-Barnett’s quote spoke to me as there is so much that needs to be understood about the people of the Earth, but more so, women. As much strides have been made, there is many more that need to be taken. Awareness and understanding is key.
Each of us have the power to improve Life to make it better than its current state. It takes one step. A singular action to get the ball rolling. One action from millions of people is monunmental. Dedication and determination is the fuel to the fire. Action is flames. And with that, we can burn away what no longer served us collectively and start a better foundation.
I challenge each one of you to feed into others. Feed into those who are younger, the same age and older. It is never too late. No one is never too busy. Make the time. Encourage and guide someone. Let the little ladies around you know that there are no boundaries. That there are no limits to what they set their minds to. Teach the boys and men to partner with the women. Challenge men and women to check their biases. Feel empowered because we can and will make a change.
