Step 1: Take Care of Yourself

This Wisdom Wednesday message will be short and sweet. Soon, a longer post or video will follow. 

You are a top priority. You just take care of yourself. There is only one you. 

Put yourself above all deadlines, all asks of you, all “obligations”, all responsibilities, all chores…everything. 

You must come before any and everything. That very well may sound selfish but if you don’t care for yourself, you will soon find yourself sacrificing bits and pieces of you until there is nothing left. 

Taking care of yourself does not mean that you can’t do other things or that you must be the only one to do something to care for you. On the contrary, in fact. Oftentimes, others offer to help us take care of things or ourselves and we turn it down. We turn it down because we feel that we must do everything. Accepting help or asking for help makes us look like we can’t do it. We know you can. But you can’t do it all. 

Ask for help. Accept help. Set boundaries. Respect those boundaries. Take some time for yourself. Meditate. Take a bath. Go for a walk. Sun bathe. Cherish moments. Literally smell the flowers. Play in some dirt. Get some rest. Establish good sleep hygiene. Work out. Eat better. Surround yourself with beautiful souls. Give back. 

And by all means, take. care. of. yourself.
