If you have not had the pleasure of tasting fresh coconut water, you are truly missing out on one of Mother Nature’s gifts to us.
Drinking fresh coconut water instantly puts me in a good mood. It is light, refreshing, delicious, and great for you. Besides coconut water making you feel like you are in a tropical paradise enjoying the ocean breeze (not dramatic in the least), it provides one with so many benefits.
Traveling brings great joy but can also can be slightly daunting when it comes to finding food. I put forth my best effort to choose food that are closest to the original source of nature. For breakfast, I aim for something filling, nutritious and light so that I won’t feel drowsy later. This usually consists of a green smoothie or fresh pressed juice.
Ah, the challenge of finding breakfast (while on the move) that isn’t heavy/empty carbs/full of meat/has cheese/nasty.
Well, today wasn’t one of those days!!!!!!!!!!! Whoo. Celebrate the small things!
Açai berry smoothie with mango, greens, and pineapple. Organic, I might add.
Definite excitement. I hope that your day has been going well, Warrior!
Cheers to the morning! 2 ounces of juiced wheatgrass. I initially decided to try it for several reasons. 1) 2 oz of wheatgrass is equivalent to 4 pounds of green vegetables. 2) I was being spontaneous and wanted to try it. And 3) I wondered if it tasted as bad as it many have said.
Well…I don’t think it tastes bad. It simply tasted like concentrated spinach and chard.
The caveat to this is that as with many other herbs, roots, and vegetables (e.g. dandelion), wheatgrass detoxes the body. As it is a powerful substance, it is not uncommon to be a little nauseated after taking a wheatgrass shot for the first time. Keep this in mind if you decide to be adventurous as well.
All in all. I recommend it.
Man, do I just LOVE the farmer’s market!!
It reminds me of going to the Eastern Market every weekend to purchase spices as well as fruits and veggies when the ones we planted in my Great-Grandmother’s garden was not quite ready. The beautiful times where the produce was the main focus and great pride was taken in what was being offered to the visitors.
Now, whenever I can, I go to the local farmer’s market to purchase local raw honey, fresh vegetables and fruits. Since it is later in the season, the pickings were slim (goodbye summer selection) but I was happy with what I found.
Fall does not mean that there aren’t great selections out there, they are just slightly adjusted. One won’t find an abundance of sweet fruits but will find a healthy selection of greatness. To help you on your next trip to the farmer’s market (or regular market), here are some vegetables and fruits that are in season.
Many of us may recall having a humidifier with vapor product in it when we were sick and stuffy. The warm vapor open up our little noses and help rid us of congestion.
Now, let’s put a spin on this. Keep the vapor, subtract the heat and replace the vapor product with essential oils and we get….an OIL DIFFUSER!
Yes, we do.
Now, I am sure you are wondering, “Well, don’t I get enough minerals from the food I eat?” Chances are, you don’t (unless you are raw vegan who spends a decent amount of time ensuring that meals are balanced and provides proper nutrients.)
Since we often do not get the nutrients that we need through our food, where should we look? Vitamins? Yes! But not in the way that you think. Many vitamins that are easily accessible through the pharmacy and grocery store do not provide the nutrients that your body needs. Sure, it may be packed with the items but does your body absorb it? No.
There are some things that are a must have in life and raw apple cider vinegar is one of those things. When we go back to nature, we find mighty items full of power to fuel the Warrior of Earth. This simple (not really simple) liquid can do a trillion things and solve problems. There are health benefits, beauty benefits, home benefits, the list goes on. Although it can be used in many ways, the bottom line is that you must have this in your life. Always.
Hellllloooooooo, favorite mask!
One of my most favorite home-spa treatments is the bentonite clay mask (also known as “Indian Healing Clay”).
As you know, I am into resources that are the closest to or in its natural state. Our indigenous ancestors were in a better position of obtaining natural items in comparison to today. But, it can be done!
As James Brown said, “Get on the Good Foot!”
I believe that fueling our day through healthy food is getting on the good foot.
Look at the word, “breakfast.” I read, “break” “fast.” The first meal of the day is to break the fast that you begin after dinner and while you are asleep. Providing your body with nutritional essentials is imperative for a Warrior’s mind, body, and spirit. Mind, because a Warrior is unable to function at their highest mental capacity without healthy food, thus being sluggish, not processing properly, and sometimes getting frustrated. Body, because a Warrior’s body requires physical substance to heal, prepare, and function. Spirit, because when one is not feeling healthy/well, it can dampen a Warrior’s spirits.
